Race Judicata results, 2008 to 2018

The Racer's Hub

Race Judicata results form the largest race series in The Racer’s Hub archive. The archive holds ten editions, from August 2008 to September 2018. Nine of them have searchable lists with 27,259 runners in total, more than any other race series on the site. This page lists every edition, shows how the field changed from year to year and explains how to find your own result.

All numbers below come from the archived results pages linked in the table. A runner is counted once per race, by bib number and name, even when the same runner appears in two lists of the same year.

There is no 2011 Race Judicata in the archive, and the archive does not say why.

How the field changed

The first edition in the archive, in 2008, has 2,686 runners. The next two years grew a little, to 2,714 in 2009 and 2,864 in 2010. After the gap in 2011, the 2012 race has 2,553 runners, the smallest field of the series.

From 2013 the race is larger. It passed 3,000 runners for the first time with 3,200 in 2013 and reached its peak in 2014 with 3,486, the third largest single race in the whole archive. The editions after that stay close to that level: 3,282 in 2016, 3,291 in 2017 and 3,183 in 2018.

The calendar moved too. The 2008 race was on a Friday in the middle of August, and the 2009 and 2010 races were on Thursdays in late July. From 2012 to 2018 every edition was held on a Thursday in September, always between September 4 and September 15.

Names, lists and divisions

Most years the race appears as “Race Judicata”. The 2016 results are titled “Judicata 5k”, and the 2018 results simply “Judicata”. The 2018 page has two lists, labelled “searchable 5k” and “searchable lawyer”. Every runner in the lawyer list also appears in the 5K list, so the 2018 total above counts the 5K list once and does not add the second list.

Some years also have a plain text version of the results. In 2009 there is a text report next to the searchable list, and in 2017 a team report. The 2015 results were saved only as a text file, so they cannot be sorted like the other years and are not included in the total of 27,259 runners. You can still search them line by line.

The searchable lists show the bib number, first and last name, place, division, time and pace for each runner; the 2010 and 2012 lists also have a gender column. The Division column holds codes such as M2029 and M3039. The 2008 list uses 25 different division codes; the later lists use 13 to 15.

The archive gives Chicago, IL as the location of the 2017 and 2018 races. The earlier pages do not name a town. Timing on every page except 2014 is credited to Accu-Split, the timer behind most races in the archive; the 2014 page names no timer.

How to find your Race Judicata result

  1. Open the year in the table above. All years are also listed when you search the archive for Judicata.
  2. On a searchable list, type your last name or your bib number into the box above the table. The list narrows as you type.
  3. Click a column heading, such as Time or Division, to sort by it. Click again to reverse the order.
  4. For 2015 and the text reports of 2009 and 2017, type your name in the same box: the page shows only the matching lines of the report.

If you ran several editions, it is worth checking each year: names are spelled as they were entered for that race, in capital letters. Results, names and times are shown exactly as they were saved in the archive, without corrections.

For other races in the same city, see all races listed in Chicago, or browse every race in the archive by year.
